SAP Expands Cloud and Business AI Adoption Across Asia Pacific and Japan

Following the release of its global earnings on January 28, SAP has announced new customer acquisitions and go-lives across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), highlighting innovative applications of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI).

Accelerating AI Adoption Paul Marriott, President of SAP Asia Pacific and Japan, emphasized the growing adoption of AI, stating, “2024 marked the shift of AI from hype to reality for SAP customers across APJ. This trend will only accelerate in 2025, with a target of 400 embedded AI use cases projected to boost productivity by up to 30% for key personas within our applications. The level of adoption underscores the tangible value organizations are realizing from Business AI.”

Business AI Driving Transformation NTT DATA Inc., a global leader in technology and business services, has selected RISE with SAP, SAP Business AI, SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP Signavio to modernize its ERP landscape, replacing legacy SAP and non-SAP systems. The company aims to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation.

In India, Premium Transmission Limited, a leading automotive parts manufacturer, chose GROW with SAP and SAP Business AI. Ashok Leyland, one of India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, adopted SAP Business AI, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud as part of its RISE with SAP initiative.

ITC Limited, a prominent Indian conglomerate spanning FMCG, paper, packaging, and IT, complemented SAP S/4HANA with SAP Business AI, SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP SuccessFactors. Meanwhile, SA Power Networks in Australia implemented RISE with SAP, SAP Business AI, and SAP SuccessFactors.

Cloud Transformation Momentum Q4 saw a strong push toward cloud adoption, with several major businesses going live with SAP solutions.

Coles, one of Australia’s largest retailers with over 120,000 employees, successfully implemented RISE with SAP, laying the groundwork for its digital transformation in 2025.

India’s Trent Limited, a leading retail business managing six fashion brands, completed its migration to RISE with SAP. The company expressed enthusiasm for future possibilities, citing advanced analytics and automation capabilities that will optimize operations and drive growth. SAP Cloud Success Services played a key role in ensuring seamless migration and adoption.

Additional RISE with SAP implementations and go-lives included Hyundai Glovis, Roy Hill, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Sterlite Power Transmission, NTPC Limited, Ventia, and Daewoong Pharmaceuticals Co. SAP also announced that Japan’s Tosoh Corporation and Korea’s social ecosystem, Underdogs, selected SAP S/4HANA Cloud in Q4.

Commitment to Sustainability SAP continued its growth in sustainability solutions, helping businesses enhance their environmental strategies.

Vedanta Limited in India adopted SAP Sustainability Footprint Management and SAP Business Technology Platform to drive its sustainability objectives.

In Thailand, Charoen Pokphand Foods Ltd (CPF), a global leader in food and agro-industrial businesses, went live with SAP sustainability solutions in October 2024. CPF’s implementation of SAP Environment Management, SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, SAP Sustainability Control Tower, and SAP Analytics Cloud enables comprehensive tracking of materials from source to factory. The platform also ensures transparent data collection and calculates Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions under the SBTi standard, ensuring compliance with future audits.
